Legacy Kollection Tour Kicks Off!
Posted by Drake’s Nexus | July 2025
If you're a Mortal Kombat fan, you better start practicing your fatalities — because the past is punching its way into the present!
The Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection Kombat Tour 2025 is officially underway, and it kicked off in the most epic way possible: right in the middle of San Diego Comic-Con week! This traveling celebration of MK’s bloody brilliant history is giving fans a hands-on preview of Digital Eclipse’s upcoming Legacy Kollection, and we are HERE for it.
πΉ️ What Is the Legacy Kollection?
Mortal Kombat has had a LOT of titles over the decades, and now they’re being brought back in style. The Legacy Kollection is a loving, brutal time capsule filled with:
• The original arcade classics like Mortal Kombat I, II, and Ultimate III
• Underrated gems like Mortal Kombat 4, Advance, and Tournament Edition
• Enhanced features: rollback netcode, save states, visual filters, and more
• An interactive documentary packed with behind-the-scenes stories, interviews with Ed Boon, John Tobias, and the rest of the MK legends!
This isn’t just a re-release — it’s a full-on Fatality of nostalgia in the best way possible.

π Tour Details: Where You Can Get Your Hands Bloody
The Kombat Tour is hitting four major stops across the U.S. and offers attendees the chance to play live demos of the Legacy Kollection months before release. The first stop dropped during SDCC, and from all reports, it was pure chaos (the good kind).
Fans got:
• Hands-on time with multiple versions of MK1–MK4
• Classic arcade cabinets and modern stations
• First looks at newly remastered features
• Tournament-style battles and collectible merch giveaways

πΌ Beyond the Games: The Documentary & Dev Deep-Dives
One of the coolest surprises is the interactive behind-the-scenes feature bundled with the Kollection. It's not just a documentary — it’s a living timeline full of:
• Rare concept art and sprite sheets
• Interviews with original developers
• Evolution of character moves and fatalities over time
You can pause the action and explore the history like you’re in the Krypt of Knowledge. Total fan service, in the best way.
π§ Why This Matters to the FGC (Fighting Game Community)
The return of these classics with rollback netcode means we might see Ultimate MK3 or MK2 popping up in online lobbies again — with buttery smooth online matches. Whether you're a button-masher or a tourney killer, this Kollection gives everyone a seat on the Dragon Boat.
π️ When Can You Play It At Home?
While there's no fatal release date just yet, all signs point to an October 2025 launch, which lines up perfectly with the Mortal Kombat 2 movie.
Expect announcements about preorders, additional tour dates, and maybe a few bonus titles before the summer ends.
π©Έ Final Thoughts: “It Has Begun… Again!”
The Kombat Tour is shaping up to be more than just a nostalgia play. It’s a full-blown revival of the MK legacy, right down to the pixelated bones. If you grew up pulling off Scorpion’s spear or yelling “Toasty!” at your CRT screen, this is your moment.
And if you’re new to Mortal Kombat? Welcome to the party — just don’t forget to block.
